Who We Help

We help women Australia-wide - rural, remote, metro, public, private, 1st baby, 10th baby, high-risk, low-risk, going with an obstetrician or a midwife - you name it - if you’re pregnant or you’ve given birth less than 6 weeks ago - we’re here for you!

Our care is bulk-billed - that means no cost. From the comfort of your living room, in your jammies, with your bub, messy hair, no make-up - however you are is fine with us!

Our service offers no barriers. None. Not financial. Not location. Not with a wait time or criteria. So long as you’re pregnant or have given birth less than 6 weeks ago - with a Medicare, card, you can see us. Free. Always.

Why we’re so into continuity of care

The research has been out for many years. We know that having a known midwife for your pregnancy and postnatal care leads to better outcomes for mothers and babies. And this means over time - better outcomes for society. here at Dial a Midwife, we believe continuity of care can really change the relationship between mother and baby and within families and within society. Just imagine if every woman approached her birth and motherhood feeling ….. good! Confident, supported, cared for, autonomous …

We know that continuity of care leads to:

Better experiences for women - this means intervention that is more appropriately used because it is less likely to be needed

Smoother journeys through pregnancy and birth - fewer complications because we can “nip things in the bud” and manage smaller issues before they become bigger issues

Improved breastfeeding rates because of less intervention and fewer complications - we know that continuity of care contributes to more babies being born at term, for example. And term babies feed better.

But beyond the science, here’s what that feels like

  • You’ll feel seen and heard - with plenty of time to talk through concerns.

  • You’ll come away feeling informed and confident about the things that matter to you.

  • You’ll feel supported in your decisions and beliefs.

  • You’ll feel calm and confident as you approach your birth.

  • You’ll feel empowered to seek help when you need it.

  • You’ll feel like you’ve got someone in your corner and on your team, who genuinely cares and wants the best for you.
