Our Midwifery Philosophy of Care

At Dial a Midwife, we whole-heatedly believe in continuity and in midwifery care.

We believe every woman needs (and deserves) a midwife, and some need an obstetrician, too. We’re adaptable and work with your chosen care team.

We believe that all women should have access to affordable and safe midwifery care, no matter where they live and no matter where they choose to give birth.

We do not believe in the replacement of midwives with nurses and doulas, though we respect their role in health care and birth support respectively.

We want to ensure that midwifery care is accessible to all women, and so we provide bulk-billed midwifery care right from the very beginning of pregnancy through to six weeks postnatal.

We believe in accessible care, and so, if you need a same-day appointment, we’re going to do our very best to be available to you.
We strive to provide care in the format that is best for you - video or phone - and if you’re in Sydney, we offer home visits, too.

We believe in high-quality care and that’s why we continually update our knowledge and skills.

We stand for support that meets you where you’re at - on your agenda and timing, not ours. We support with education, guidance, information, counselling and roadmaps ensuring your questions are answered, your concerns and doubts are eased and that you feel informed, inspired, motivated and at ease.

Our care is confidential. We are impartial. We are here for you. Our service is unlimited, free and accessible.
